could someone tell me  when using Shrink3.2 it now takes up to 3hrs to burn a movie. whereas  before it only took  30 - 45 minutes.

When you say "burn" is it

When you say "burn" is it safe to imply you mean it's now taking 3 hrs to rip and encode the disc? DVD Shrink doesn't include direct burning support, though it ties in well with Nero.

Can you elaborate more?

Check the media you are using

Check the media you are using.  It sounds like the burner is burning at a slower rate.  Just because the burner is rated for 52x for example, doesn't mean that it will burn at that rate all of the time.  Using media that is rated for 16x will force the burner to burn at the slower rate.  Also, since the certification rate is usually manufactured into the media, the burner may be misreading the blank disc, thinking it is a lower speed version.

Another random thought:

Windows has a tendancy to set the transfer mode to PIO instead of DMA after attempting to read or write to several several scratched or damaged discs.  Uninstalling the driver for the DVD burner and rebooting (Windows should rediscover the burner), should let Windows allow the burner to operate at higher speeds again.
