Dash Express: First Impressions of My New GPS
GPS devices will bring the Internet to the car and my new Dash Express is leading the charge. My first 48 hours with the device were exactly what I had hoped for and it is clear this is a sign of good things to come.

I thought I'd assemble some close ups of the gadgets featured in the History Channel's Modern Marvels episode that featured my MEGA Museum.

I thought I'd assemble some close ups of the gadgets featured in the History Channel's Modern Marvels episode that featured my MEGA Museum. I have to say that my photography skills are severely lacking, so...

Gallery: Segway Spotting - Moving beyond birds, trains, and license plates
I'm not sure how it started but there is a new pastime that is surely going to sweep the country - Segway Spotting . While we wait for the inevitable Trainspotting movie sequel, I'll start...
Why can't they invent this too?
I just read about a new feature being introduced in some 2008 cars where the parent can hit one button ("time out" button?) and instantly mute all the A/V going on in the car and......
Things I didn't know I'd love about the iPhone
...now I'm a proud new iPhone owner. I don't intend to add to the noise by rehashing praise for the same mainstream features that made this device an icon even before it hit the shelves. Instead, I wanted to talk about the features that I found that really make this an even more compelling gadget for me, features that might be passed over in the typical iPhone review...

Come take a peek at an early adopters experience out of the gate in this Angry Jones/Joyful Jones look at the first 40 hours... a must read for anyone thinking about taking the iPhone plunge.

Why I Want an iPhone
I only have to wait one more day (if I'm lucky) to get my hands on the new iPhone. I am not above waiting in lines for the latest gadget and if ever there was a line for me to get in, this would be it. While I will most certainly document, in a future article here, my own first impressions and feedback on the iPhone I wanted to take some time up front to share what makes this particular phone so interesting to me. You will find plenty of reviews out on the Net for sure, but I was inspired to write this because I haven't seen some of this talked about so far!

Sprint EVDO Express Card Brings High-Speed Mobile Data to My MacBook Pro
I have always suspected there was a mobile broadband solution in my future as I have been carrying my laptop all around the city for years, for both work and play. True that WiFi hotspots are becoming more common (I'm especially interested in seeing the fon community gain some traction), but my travels have been significantly restricted by the low availability of free wifi...

One Year With Segway - Reflections and Recollections
Well, I've had the Segway i180 for a whole year and as it is mostly a solitary transport vehicle, I have had plenty of time to think about the practicality and pleasure of owning one. For all those who are interested, I will share the thoughts collected in my head over these past 12 months...

The Low Tech/High Value Gadgets in My House
I thought I would take a breather from the hectic world of early gadget adopting and reflect on some of the best low tech gear I have and, more importantly USE in my house. I doubt that any of the items discussed here will make anyone's "Top XX" list but sometimes we need to look past the flash and cool-ness of the high profile gadgets and pay attention to the ones that provide value every day.
Need more HDMI inputs on my TV
I found this link to a 5-way HDMI switch: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=101& This doesn't require external power and even better, adds another remote to the mix!!! Anyone know a good reason not to grab this or similar...

Early Adopter says, "no way" to HD-DVD
I just read Matt Whitlock's HD-DVD article about the introduction of the first commercial HD-DVD player and all I can say is "yawn". I'm an early adopter, the kind that Matt refers to and presumably...

My New "Hot Pockets" Tactical 4.0 Scott eVest Gadget Jacket
I had already discovered the Scott eVest clothing line years ago and got pulled in by the allure of more pockets that I could possibly want. I took that as a challenge... and lost. I never did find a reason to use every pocket but new respect was earned that day by Mr. eVest. I actually met Scott once and he seemed like a down-to-earth guy who was really focused on producing a new kind of clothing that...

Squids, Dance Mats, and Other Cool Things I Saw at CES 2006

First Impressions of Akimbo
I had been keeping my eye on the Akimbo folks for the past year so when they dropped the price of their Internet DVR to below $100, I figured it was time to give it a shot. What follows is my initial take on this intriguing new product/service combo. I will surely follow up with additional impressions and feedback after I put some hours in. A quick intro for those not yet familiar with this product. Akimbo makes a...
Back from CES, Pondering Big Thoughts
I think I am finally recovered after the trip to Las Vegas for the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show, although I was probably more mentally than physically exhausted. There was, of course, the usual flurry of...
