8 blinks usually means a high voltage distribution block being bad. It is the block with all the red wires in it above the D board.

Check the High Voltage distribution block above the D board. The resistance to gnd should be higher than 40 mega ohms. To get the wires out, you need to push in and twist.

I got mine from www.partstore.com . Just put the part no off of the block and search. part# on mine was 8-598-955-32

First I would unplug the high votage leads from the distro block and measure the resistance. plain and simple.

The light will only light for a flash, in the beginning startup cycle. Then the set sees the resistance and shuts down. If you never get a light, I would look on the flyback side...
