The protect message indicates that the output section has a problem. The protection state prevents further damage. If you have no experience in electronics repair, any service shop should be able to help. If the...

I no longer work with these on a daily basis, so I don't have exact costs, but figure on $75 for the part at a minimum. This comes as an assembly not just the optics....

There should not be any clicking. I would suspect that one of the end sensor switches is bad. This means that the unit never realizes that the optics are in the "home" position. This will...

If you are hearing static, the outputs are OK. Is this a new unit? Are there pre-amp outputs in the back? If so, try connecting from those outputs to another amp. Sound=preamp/switching sections working OK....

I don't have the manual for this one with me at the moment, so I'll give you a couple of possibilities. 1) The volume control itself is defective. This is a very common generic part...

If the previous comment is correct, this problem is not new. Sharp had the same problem with their small camcorders. Yep, the ones that came out with the LCD screen on the back where the...

About 75% of my sales last year was in salvaged equipment. My record is the sale of a 53" Sony projection for $600. My total out of pocket cost was 1/2 cent for a resistor...

While shooting the TV may release some agressions, it really won't fix the problem... You have a problem with the vertical circuit. Usually this is either the vertical Ic having bad connections or being defective....

Forgot to add that one of thebiggest problems for "older" existing installations is the coax cable. A higher quality cable should help too. Dan
Reply to New Broadcast Signal on February 14, 2008
There are special antennas designed for the digital signal. Most appear to be shorter and have built in amplifiers. I suspect that these are using "old time" digital signal boosting techniques to minimize the effects...

There is a dead spot on the spindle motor. If this is the model I think, the DVDs play sideways right? This puts more stress on the motors and tends to wear them more frequently....

If the display is showing "protect" the fuse is not the problem. This indicates that the receiver is in protect mode (the output section has been shutdown). The output transistors are most likely shorted. This...

You have an open resistor and the whole output section is shifted. Many of the Yamaha designs send the B+ and B- through "current limiting" resistors. These are usually 22-47 Ohms and are flameproof. Check...
