Sony KP-51WS510, Convergence problems?

Got this TV from my brother as he bought a new one , now I get to fix it! First he replaced the ic's with 570's as that's what sony sent him and they said they were better. He replaced the pico fuses with 5 amp, up from the 3.15 amp. Then he pluged it in and turned it on and no picture and 3 of the resistor's got hot and started smoking. Then he replaced the ic's with genuine Sanyo STK 560's and replaced all 6 of the pico fuses with 5 amp. Turned the tv on and got a picture but it is very fuzzy! On the picture adjust the convergence shows up and the green and red + is there and will move for you. I do know when the convergence is out that won't show up on the screen. Here's what's weird, I can plug in my DVD player and play DVD's and the picture comes in real clear, like new! I know he used the heat sink goop as we both build computers and use the stuff on the chips all the time. Would it still be in the D-board or what else can I...

I have a Sony kp65ws510 projection tv and I just changed the convergence chips to correct a convergence problem. The heatsink for the chip on the left is cold but the heatsink on the right is warm. I checked all the pico fuses on the D and G boards. Does anyone have an idea of why that chip might not be turning on? Thanks...

Panny 42PZ80U issue

42" plasma, powers on, steady front LED (no blinkin codes), display almost comes up, but fades to probably 98% dark. Its got to be either the tuner/input board (in middle), or the logic board(A board) underneath. Why? because when i disconnect the data/sig cable (real real tiny fine, multi colored wires w/ metal lok tabs) connecting between the 2, I get a nice white bright raster. So with that I'm assuming P-supply, buffers, plasma display, etc is ok. What I would like to nail down is which boards kaput?.. sig boards bout 200$, logic board can be had for 50$....Would like an opinion and/or experience with this sort of paltry dilemma. Thank you

RCA HD61LPW42 Possible Heatshield Problems

This is my first attempt with DLP televisions! I'm a novice (at best) with television repair but find that when pointed in a general direction, I've been fairly successful. With that said... A friend of mine has a RCA HD61LPW42 television that has recently displayed a large diagonal bright line approximately 4 inches wide across the entire screen. I have not seen this problem on the actual television, but he wants to fly me from Utah to Phoenix to repair it for him. The local guy told him it would cost $850. The repairman told him that the heatshield was cracked and two of the cca's would need to be replaced. It seems to be a physical problem and not an electronic problem due to the fact that the entire picture is fine, other than that diagonal line. Any help would be appreciated!

I have a WT 42313 mitsubishi tv. My tv has blue and green light on- red is out. I recently replaced both stk chips due to convergence issues and bowing effects on screen. After the installation of both new chips, convergence seems fine, bowing image is gone, but the red color is off too. Looking at the back of the tv, the bottom of the lamp is golowing orange like the other two but no image is being output to the screen. Any ideas on what's wrong or where to check? Can I swap neck boards to see if i can get it to fire up? How about swapping the plugs in the flyback? Thanks for any help and suggestions

Hello, I have a Samsung projection television that I am not sure what is wrong with. When it is powered on, it will either have no sound, or a loud buzzing/humming noise coming from the speakers regardless of whether the television is muted or the volume turned all the way down. The sound eventually dies down and is replaced by the sound of what is on the television, but slowly -starting with the bass tones until the sound is clear. Once the sound comes on, the tv operates and functions normally and very well. The sound is coming from the speakers -I took off the front speaker panel to make sure, but it seems to be a video problem as the speakers work fine after the kinks are worked out. I can't seem to figure out what's wrong. Can anyone help me?

Panasonic PT-56WXF95A convergence

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I have a Panasonic model PT-56WXF95A which recently developed a convergence problem. Typical symptoms like colors messed up, bowing distored images. Last night I pulled out the convergence board and found about 5 resistors charred/burnt. I mean charred black and grey and discolored the pcb around the resistors. I don't have a service manual so here's the help I need from anyone who have dealt with similar situations. I measured several good resistors that are in the series with the burnt ones and they are around 3.7 ohms. Can someone please tell me the correct resistors to buy (to make sure, I will also replace the 2 STK's). These are the burnt resistors: R7064, 7065, ...66, ...R7048, ...49, ...50, and ...51. I took pictures of the steps I've done to fix my tv. I will post when I'm done and get it to work again. Hopefully, it'll help others as well. If you have the service manual for this model, please email it to me robtn320@yahoo.com . Thanks everyone, I need my tv back to life.

I have a sony kp-51ws510 rear proijection tv. was working ok, but the picture was offset (pic was about 2in too low and to the right, leaving an L shape boarder on the top and left) so i went into the service menu to adjust the Hpos and Vpos. after finding it, saved and worked well, on just that input i set. changed inputs after that (not in service menu at this point) and the screen got all messed up on other inputs. so tried resetting the service menu and lost picture on all inputs. What can i do to fix this now?

The picture on my TV had the hortional blue line warping up so I replaced the deflection IC's (2) STK392-110. I did a real good job of soldering the ic'S and heatsinks back in to place, I then checked the 12 resistors (6) 1.8's and (6) 220's. all checked out within tolerence. I had all the cables labeled so as not to get them mixed up. I put every thing back and now I get no picture and no sound when I turn the set on just a blinking power button. I've taken the set apart 2 different times to check joints and anything else but no luck. Any ideas would be of great help!!!!
