Hi everyone, this is my first post so please bear with me. I am having trouble with the image when I connect my notebook to my tv. FYI I have an Asus A7c notebook with an ATI mobility radeon x1450 graphics card with the following outputs; 1. TV out port (s video) 2. Display (monitor) Output (15-pin D sub monitor port supporting standard VGA devices) 3. Display (DVI-D) Output 4. SPDIF Output Jack (Headphone Output Jack) My television is a Sony (KDL-40V3100) 40" Bravia LCD with the following inputs; 1. HDMI IN (2 ports) with right and left audio inputs 2. PC IN (RGB Jack, 15-pin port) with an audio jack I connected the tv to the computer via a standard VGA cable (15 Pin) and audio via a 3.5mm-3.5mm stereo cable. I booted the computer up and and the start up screen appeared on the tv. When the desktop opened up my background and all my icons appeared on the tv without any significant "letterboxing". I watched a full movie and was quite happy with the quality. At this stage I feel it is important to note that I did not adjust any settings on either the computer or...

But a day later a black circle appeared at the top left corner opposite where the water splashed. Does anyone know why and is there anything I can do?

Hi Everyone, I have been struggling with my home office for about 3 weeks. I was hoping someone in this great site could help me. I am not technical about how electronics work, but I will try my best to describe my problem. I currently have 4 hp pcs and 2 hp laptops networked to share 2 printers wirelessly. (One of the pcs is in another room) I have a wireless linksys router to get internet access. Two years ago we purchased a 32" Polaroid HD-Ready flat panel LCD TV/Monitor model: FLM-3201 (which sat in a box until now). We also have a cable box, a D-link media player model DSM-520 and a compact home theater Bose 3.2.1 GS Series II. We want to be able to display photos, files and browse the internet from any of the computers we have and be able to display it in the 32" TV. 1. How can this be done? 2. Do I need to hardwire all the computers or can it be done wirelessly? 3. Do I need to have a switch to let the TV know which computer to display? 4. If I do need to hardwire the TV to a...

I have a HP Pavilion computer model 4535 with Win.ME. It has only 64 MB of memory, a 400 mhz processor (celeron), 6.44 gigs of usable hrd drive capacity with 1.43 gigs of free space. Could I take the memory modules (2- 128MB) out of my old MPC and put them in my HP to get 256MB? What kind of video card should I put in, because all I get are choppy video streams right now? Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Ok so I've been on this site for about the last 4 hours now reading and this site is amazing so I first want to thank whomever is running it and contributing to it. It is a big help. However, I still have some questions that I can hopefully get some help on. Here is the situation. I am building a HTPC (home theater pc) based on a Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H motherboard which has a standard VGA out but also has a DVI-D out and an HDMI out. I picked this mobo so that when I eventually get a HDTV, the PC will still work. But for now I have a 27" Sharp TV that I bought about 4 years ago ( Sharp 27-F543). It has normal coax, 3 composite in's, 1 S-video in and 1 Component in. (I suppose when I bought the TV I also bought it becuase of the connectivity options). So as you can see I have a mobo with VGA, DVI, and HDMI and a TV with Composite, S-Video and Component. Nothing matching up. Just my luck. So - I've seen those little VGA to S-Video/Composite video adapters (on ebay) and I have read that those...

What's the status on AppleTV and AVI files (or other non-QuickTime formats)? I'm looking into adding a computer-to-TV component for a possible bedroom TV setup, and in my consideration of AppleTV, I discovered that it only support QuickTime video (unless hacked). Surely I read something wrong and that can't be the case. Say it isn't so!

Sound problem

I recently connected my laptop (HP Pavilion) to my Vizio Plasma TV. I get a great picture but I am experiencing backround or static noise when listening to the sound thru the TV or thru the surround system. I have tried several different cables (just in case I had a bad cable) I have used contact cleaner on my laptop to insure the outlets are clean. I have tried turning down the sound on the computer and up on the tv and visa / versa with no luck. The static sound is noticiable when watching movies, as well as when I just have my desk top showing on the tv with no video playing. Does anyone have any ideas? Radio Shack did say they sell a noise reducer that may help. Thanks Dennis.

Powerpoint...computer to tv question

I run a Real Estate office, right on the square in a small "touristy" historic town. A unique feature of our office is our use of a 40in LCD tv in the window which shows a slideshow of our current listings, in a video DVD format. Its a great attention grabber and has proven to be an excellent resource in advertising and pulling in walk-in's. My dillema is, updating the listing dvd is a pain and takes forever to do. I thought why not connect the computer straight to the tv via a dvi cable and run the slideshow continuously in a powerpoint format. This way I could add/edit in no time and it would be cheaper to maintain. My question is, is there any way I can run the power point off my computer, connected to the tv, AND do other work on the same computer at the same time, with just the power point presentation showing up on the tv? If that makes any sense... Or does anyone have another suggestion? Thanks!
