Powerpoint...computer to tv question

I run a Real Estate office, right on the square in a small "touristy" historic town. A unique feature of our office is our use of a 40in LCD tv in the window which shows a slideshow of our current listings, in a video DVD format. Its a great attention grabber and has proven to be an excellent resource in advertising and pulling in walk-in's. My dillema is, updating the listing dvd is a pain and takes forever to do. I thought why not connect the computer straight to the tv via a dvi cable and run the slideshow continuously in a powerpoint format. This way I could add/edit in no time and it would be cheaper to maintain. My question is, is there any way I can run the power point off my computer, connected to the tv, AND do other work on the same computer at the same time, with just the power point presentation showing up on the tv? If that makes any sense... Or does anyone have another suggestion? Thanks!

DRM-free Neuros vs. other approaches?

I recently saw this come across the wire, and wondered what the community thought of it... From Neuros... In response to the branded, proprietary DRM schemes like Microsoft's "plays for sure" and Apple's "FairPlay," Neuros has created an "Unlocked" Media trademark to promote the concept of open standard DRM-Free files that can be stored and played anywhere. http://unlocked.neurostechnology.com We hope that other organizations (community and for profit) will adopt this mark for products that generate such files (or stores that sell such files), and create a grass roots movement in support of unlocked files and put consumers back in control of their media. So, my question... How big a deal is DRM to you? What do you think of this Neuros article? What has been your experience with digital rights management ... especially as it relates to different tech like iTunes, WMP, etc?

I'm in an apartment with 2 other roommates. Our landlord just gave us a GIGANTIC 52" TV and we're super excited. The only problem is it's leaving us limited room for our CD/DVD collections. Do you have any suggestions for a server/media center setup that would allow us to store all of our movies and things and run them on the TV when we want. It would also be great if we could access them individually from our own computers. Price is of the utmost importance. We're college students, so reasonable cost would be optimal :D Thanks!

Ok, so let us say that hypothetically [ in reality ] I know very little about some [ 99% ] of the items talked about on this site. Waht do you think the best product would be for each of these tasks i'd like to accomplish: 1. There is a show that has old episodes airing on CBS.com, is there a tool that would let me watch them on my TV? 2. The instructions on my plasma tv** say "don't connect this to a video game device". Sooo, should I listen to that? Or is it some BS and I should still hok up my Wii? What is the real danger? Thanks for your help! **reading instructions is a total let down...

Does anyone know of a way to stream netflix new watchnow feature from my pc to television. Love the new feature just dont want to watch movies on my 17inch pc monitor when I have a new 50 television in my living room. The watch now feature works with windows media player and works great you can stream movies from there website instantly instead of waiting for them in the mail. Any ideas other then running video wires from my pc to my tv would be great. I hear of a new sling media box called a sling catcher that would do this but no known release date .

Hi folks, can't quite get my head round this predicament so hoping someone can help or point me in the right direction. My area on the south coast in the UK is pretty pants as far as terrestrial TV reception goes including digital. Freeview won't be arriving anytime soon in postcode area BH15 so my main TV has a skybox and dish with a Freesat card and the portable TV in the kitchen has an FM indoor aerial and booster box to get a reasonable picture, even then ITV1 is 'snowy' at best. I was given a 15' LCD TV for Christmas which I plan to use in the bedroom but due to the location of power points and already having several extension cables and power point extenders I'm restricted on where I can place the LCD TV and plug in a booster for another aerial. Is there such a thing as a wireless aerial that I can then plug in a receiver in to my new TV without the need for 20 metres of cable trailing across the house? Or can I make use of my dish, buy a skybox cheap from somewhere and attach a wireless sender and...
