<title>Laptop to TV: What do you need to stream video?</title>
      <link>http://www.techlore.com/forum/thread/24410/Laptop-to-TV-What-do-you-need-to-stream-video/?src=category_rss</link>
<description>Dear Group, I have looked all over for help on this; I really appreciate any assistance. We are tired of paying $100+ for cable each month, especially when there is so much TV out there that one can stream from the internet (and from Netflix). We are thinking about buying a laptop to do this and our TV has a DVI port. (After a couple of months, we figure that we would have saved enought to buy the laptop). My real question is what do you need in a laptop (graphics card, RAM, etc.) to stream video to your TV (a TV with a DVI port) in order to watch streaming video at a rate and quality that would be comparable to what we see now on digital cable. I don't want to go out a buy a laptop if the quality will be sub-par and this whole idea can't really happen. Also, I know there are adapters out there that convert s-video to DVI (in case your laptop doesn't have a DVI port), but do these adapters affect the quality - would you see any difference than having a DVI to DVI connection? We are thinking about a MacBook...</description>
