I could use some help fixing my Sony 9 blink problem please.

Ok, I've searched and found this thread http://www.techlore.com/forum/thread/17503/KP-46WT520-9-Blinks/?page=10&... which explains my issue but I have another problem. When taking out the G board I had trouble pulling the ANT GRD cable and pulled the male end right off the board with it. My questions are is this connection necessary and what does it do? What do I call the piece I pulled out from the board and can a new one be purchased? Thanks for any help you can provide. This forum has been very helpful so far and I can only hope someone can help with this.
