Windows 7 is hitting the retail stores now. IE, they are getting their stock for release on  10/22. I have had the chance to play with it and it is a ton better than Vista.

I am just wondering who else has tried it or who is planning to buy it when it becomes available.

Even though I'd consider myself a "Mac guy" I've been dying to build a new gaming PC. Why, I don't know; I have enough unplayed video games to last until the next millenium.

However, Windows 7 could be my excuse to do so. I haven't played with it, but I'm hearing that it's a ton better than XP and ton(s) better than Vista.

I am in the middle of testing something that required W7 and compared to my Vista machines is was tons faster.

I may use Win 7 as an excuse to build a new desktop rig. I built a new rig just before Vista launched, so I'm still running XP. I may not give up XP entirely for a few reasons, but for 90% of my use, I'm looking forward to the new advanced features in Win 7, particularly the integrated search, peek, and the new taskbar.
