I purchased a Durabrand 13 inch TV Model #DWT1304 eight months ago at Walmart and as of 2 days ago it will not turn on.   Being the TV is only 8 months old I called the manufacturer to tell them of my problem since there is a 2 year warranty on this TV.  (Parts 1 year and Picture Tube 2 years). The kicker is that labor is only good for 90 days. Any chance of saving this TV? Could it be a blown fuse?

You should simply have your wife call and tell them the set blew out. Do not tell them that you tried to replace the fuse. This will void the warranty and the comparison to the car, not the same at all. Your comparing a $20,000 car and a $100 TV set. Find out how much the repair charge is going to be, as with the shipping and the labor, it might not be worth the repair. Unless you have solid state repair experience, working on solid state electronics, It is a risky thing for you to be in there probing around. It could be a bad regulator, a capacitor, a blown diode, Hard to tell without troubleshooting. Good Luck

Actually, replacing a blown fuse could cause more damage to the set. Fuses do not blow in TV sets, or at least solid state TV sets, for no good reason. Older type TV sets, yes they can. The fuses get fatigued after a while.
