I want to record interviews on a webcam, then tranfer them onto my laptop and/or desktop, eventually putting them onto a Cd or DVD. Any suggestions??? I am as computer illiterate as can be so please don't laugh....Thanks

Question...

You want to record a remote party who's talking into a webcam, or you want to record your own webcam with you and the other person in front of it?

I want to record interviews in my office with both of us in front of the cam,,,,,,

No problem at all. In fact, this is pretty easy so you'll be up and running in no time.

Most webcams come with software that will allow you to capture stills and video directly from the cam and save it as a video file on your hard drive.

For example, I have a Logitech Webcam on my computer. The Quickcam software allows me to do all kinds of nifty things with it. To the right is the slim program bar that gives access to the various functions. The very top button is the capture button, which allows me to capture a photo or video by using the controls on the capture screen. Below is a screenshot of what this looks like:

Clicking the arrow next to the video button provides several options for recording my video.

Not all the options you'll use, but it's pretty flexible.

The software that comes with your webcam will all be different, so it won't look like this if you have a different brand. However, most cams should come with something to do the job, and cams from the big brands like Logitech, Microsoft, Creative, etc. should all come with good, easy to use software.
