I would try a couple of things:
1. Make sure your game discs are all clean, free of scratches, etc.
2. Test multiple games to ensure that it isn't isolated to just one or two discs
3. Unplug your 360, wait a few minutes, plug it back in, and attempt it again (full power cycles sometimes help these strange issues.)
4. Ensure you have the latest firmware upgrade (you'll need to connect the 360 to the Internet to download the latest upgrade.)
Also, if your 360 is modified in any way, this *could* affect your ability to play game discs, depending on the settings and the type of modification.
These are pretty basic suggestions that may help you fix your problem. If doing these things doesn't help, you may have a manufacturer's defect or other problem.
I wish you the best of luck in getting back up and running!
