I am new to this forum. I have a sony KP46wt510 that has no picture n o sound and the

timer/stand by flashes 8 times. Can someone tell me what this could be? Also, Is the kp46wt500

the same as the kp46wt510? I have seen discussions on the 500 with the same problem.  Thanks

Check the High Voltage distribution block above the D board. The resistance to gnd should be higher than 40 mega ohms. To get the wires out, you need to push in and twist.

What should the cost of an in home sevice call be in the North East, ball park? I am not a repair tech and I am trying to decide if I should fix this 6 year old TV or replace it. One place wants $150 to come out, then parts and labor are going to be more. If it's more than $500 total I might jusy as well buy a new LCD?

The Hv block   is a likely cause. Although there could be other problems, like a bad flyback, or somthing in the flyback circuit, but usaly you will get either a 6 or 7 blink. If it is too far back in the circuit.

It should not be that difficult if it is just the hv block. Should be affordable.

First Check Q8043 HOT 2sc5778 if its shorted replace with Sony Part# 655014401 and RESOLDER T8006 pins on board Even if the solder looks OK on T8006 RESOLDER the PINS !

BUT if Q8043 is OK then HV Block could be bad Part# 859895532
