If the display is showing "protect" the fuse is not the problem.  This indicates that the receiver is in protect mode (the output section has been shutdown).  The output transistors are most likely shorted.  This is a common failure and can be repaired easily by an experienced tech for $100 or so.

I'll look up the parts tonight and update this.  You will need an ohm meter and DC voltmeter to check a few things as well.

This might sound like a dumb test and you might already have done it but it wasn't listed on the forum. I have an str de315 for several years. I hooked up a new set of speakers to it and at a very reasonable listening level sounded fine. I put a tad more volume and puff protec mode came on and everything shut down. Well I thought it's been a good receiver but just finally ran out of hours. I grabbed a little technics I keep around for testing and hooked it up and protec came on immediately. Uh oh then hooked everything back up original and everything worked fine. Blew the speakers right off the get go. I thought pyle made good speakers maybe just bad luck. I can't say that is your problem of course but that was my experience and by switching speakers back I saved a trip to the tech. Wouldn't that be nice. Just a thought Good Luck
