I have a 1 year 9 month old Sanyo DP42746 42" plasma TV.  It has been working fine till the other day, the screen went black and then the sound went silent.  Now the only thing that happens is the little power light comes on when you press the power button or turn it on via remote, sometimes you'll get a crackle from the speakers when you turn it on.  There is a light on the inside that flashes that I can see through holes in the back of the TV.

I would like to tear into this myself, I've always had an interest, any ideas on where to start, or service manuals for this model?

I found that there is an error code on the power supply flashing a d12v error.  I unplugged one the main plugs that went to the other circuit boards and the supply would stay on, but of course the tv screen would not come on.  Voltage does read 12 volts when it is on.

Do you think I have a short somewhere in the other board?

Something is loading down the power supply.  Sanyo has few if any service manuals available for any of their Plasma or LCD TV's on their website.

I had the TV repaired at a repair shop to the tune of over $400.  Said y-main was bad and some other y board, power supply I don't believe was bad.

Yes, the screen driver board was loading down the power supply. You are lucky that this was not part of the entire plasma panel as it is on some brands.
