I have a RCA model # F27242GY which stop working on the weekend. With some research I need to replace the high voltage protection circuit on the D-board, It is not worth it to take it in to a repair tech because when all said and done it will cost me just as much to purchase a new TV. I like to replace it myself if possible and I need answers to some questions.

 1)   Where can I get a Manual at?

 2)   Where can I get the part and will I need to do some soldering?

 3)   Is there any advice that anyone with experience can share with me?

Thanks to whoever replies

Is it  an RCA TV.?  yep thats an RCA model number.   I did not know an RCA had a D board in it. I know a Sony does.  Is it the high voltage protection circuit or the high voltage transformer. The horizontal output transistor and the flyback transformer and sometimes a few capacitors go bad in this model of tV set.  If you have no TV repair experience, play it safe and call in an expert to assist you in this repair.  But most of the time, this set is not worth repairing I'm afraid. PTS Electronics will repair almost any board you have, and so will Tri-State Electronics.  PTS can be reached at 1-800-844-7871 and Tri-State at http://www.tristatemodule.com  and the telephone number is located at the web site for you.  There would for sure soldering and electronic troubleshooting involved with the repair of this TV set.  Good Luck and let us know how you make out with these repairs.

Sir Jim, you should try to make your titles more descriptive than "REALLY NEED ADVICE" - you'll get more looks at your thread that way.

Thanks for the advice Larry. I thought about it after I posted my original problem and decide to purchase a new TV. I wasn't going to go through the hassle and the time when it was not going to be worth it.

Sir Jim, thanks for replying.  Probably the best thing to do with a TV set like this.  Good Luck
