I would like to find out how I can determine whether an LCD screen can play HD video etc, without going to the manufacturer? Çan I get a simple test video to help me?

The screen in question is a small Digital LCD - 800x600 res.

It most likely is, depending on how old it is and whats the make and model number?

It most likely is possable to help you if you give a little more Info just like I asked you in the responce.  We do not have cystal balls to see what type and model of TV set you have my friend.  Please post a model number and a make and maybe we can answer your question.

No it is not HD compadable I am sure, not if it is an 8" player, sorry, i wish you would have provided these details befoire, then you would know already.
