I have tried my photo cds on a number of jpeg compatible dvd players and find the quality lacking. Can anyone recommend a cheap player for viewing the photos on my telly in a better quality.

The kind of quality you'll get viewing digital photos on your television is largely dependent on the kind of TV you have. If it's an analog display, there's not much you'll be able to do to really enjoy photos on the TV. If it's HD, you're in better shape. What kind of TV is it?

Thank you for the info, Anolog display, but I have just tried an old Matsui dvd225 on it and am pleasantly impressed as my photos are pretty sharp  the colours are good, and I like its slideshow options. I have tried other more expensive DVD players by trying my photo cds out on them in the stores, also on the sharp DV-RW260H I currently own. the photo quality on them have been no where near as good as this cheap Matsui. Very odd?  I wonder what else there is out there worth trying, as I need to find one for a friend also?

Thank you for your help T,

Roku used to make a product called the photobridge, and it was an add on device specifially designed to show digital images on a TV... it even included HD support.

I'm not all that familiar with other products like it, but one thing you could try is reducing the resolution of your images (make sure you don't down res the originals!) to something like 640x480 (Microsoft makes a power toy called "image resizer" that makes this pretty easy. You can download it here. Then try and move them to disc.  The reduced resolution may scale better on your analog display.

You could also look into a variety of media center adapters or content streamers to stream photos and video to your television. The XBOX 360 has this function built in, but there are a wide variety of options. If you have a TiVo Series 2, you can also do this through the home media option.

Maybe someone else knows of some specific devices designed to play back photos on a TV set. Chime in TechLore Community!
