You should read this.  If you are not a tech or have TV repair experience, im sorry to say there is not alot that can be done to these sets as they are all solid state and have no user replaceable parts inside them.  These type of repairs are repaired down to componet level.  If you want to read more about repairing TVs go Here  or Here .  If you need any more assistance please feel free tio ask.  Good Luck and let us know what had to be done to the set to get it to work.

Hi Mr. Dillion, The self-diagnosis function,to find the fault codes, don't know how to retrieve it with a Univeral Remote since we don't the orginial remote. When the TV is turned on the red light flashes until the TV comes on & is no longer lit. The light flashes more than indicated in the eight blinks indicated in the instructions. The TV picture is what keeps flashing. The TV was working fine until we bought the Universal Remote & that's when all this started happening. So could it be that the Univeral Remote did something to the TV? Thank You!

Oh its the screen thats flashing?  Thid could be a fault in the Kine bias circuit, or maybe a bad picture tube even.

Hey.

I've got KDF 60XBR950 and 3 blinks.  Can you tell me what this means, and whether I need to call someone to fix it (and if so, what it should cost, roughly).

Thanks

Have you opened the lamp door recently, or someone opened it and did not close it fully?   This could be the cause of the 3 blink code in these TV sets.  Or perhaps the bulb is not seated correctly, or there is a bad switch on the door assembly.   Good Luck

Thanks for the response.  I hadn't even heard about these blinking codes.  When I called the shop that sold the set, they told me it was the lamp (I didn't realize that there was a separate indicator for the lamp).  So I bought a lamp and replaced the existing, and of course, this didn't solve the problem.  When I replaced the lamp, I did notice that the plastic face plate that covers the lamp opening looked like someone had stepped on it (it must have been this way when I bought the set - who knows why).  But then again, the set has worked great for two years without anyone having removed the distorted faceplate.  I've re-installed the lamp a couple times.

You are going to need to make sure the door is closed properly.  Have you done this yet?

6 flashs mean there is a 6 volt issue, could be a bad G1 board?Should be done only by a trained tech though. Cost too much to play around, you could ruin the set!

I have a KDS-A602020 and the lamp went out. I bought a replacement Philips lamp and have installed it. I bought it with a new housing and everything to avoid having to take bulb portion in and out. Once I replaced the bulb the TV fired up fine but about 1-2 minutes into watching it the picture flashes for a split second and will continually do this after that. I have gone into the settings where they have a
