Here's a few things to try:

1) Plug your device into a different USB port.
2) Reboot your computer.
3) Reinstall the device driver (software) for your RCA Lyra (either from the CD or better yet go to RCA's website.
4) Reset your RCA Lyra. Instructions on how to do this should be in your user's manual.

Try these things and report back what you find out.

hi, I'm Juan camilo and I bought a Lyra rca 1028 mp3 player on March, when i went to chicago. I'm Colombian. Please excuse me for my bad english level. One week ago, my mp3 began to jam on the RCA's preview, and then it turns off. Since this day, i heven't be able to listen my songs 'cause. When i connected it to my PC, it works perfectly, in the mp3 player screen appears= "USB connected" and it shows my songs and my files in good state. I have reset many times and i have reinstall the device driver. I don't know what else could resolve my problem. ¡Please help me!

brice,

The first thing I would do is replace the batteries. The unit automatically powers off when the batteries are too low to sustain operation.

thanks for your answer, but I had replaced the batteries many times. One friend suggested me this solution, but the device didn't power on.

Well, it was worth a shot anyway. It would appear to me that you've done everything possible to diagnose the problem. Maybe it's just a bum unit.

It's not that old, and RCA provides a 1-year replacement warranty on the unit. To make a claim:

How to make a warranty claim:

  • Properly pack your unit. Include any cables, etc., which were originally provided with the product. We recommend using the original carton and packing materials.

  • Include evidence of purchase date such as the bill of sale. Also print your name and address and a description of the defect. Send via standard UPS or its equivalent to:

  • Thomson Inc.
    Product Exchange Center
    11721 B Alameda Avenue
    Socorro, Texas 79927
  • Insure your shipment for of loss or damage. Thomson accepts no liability in case of damage or loss en route to Thomson.

  • Pay any charges billed to you by the Exchange Center for service not covered by the warranty.

  • A new or refurbished unit will be shipped to you freight prepaid.
Some companies do not honor the warranty once the product goes international, but I saw no indication of this from RCA. The only state that the warranty is not valid if purchased outside the US, and you bought yours in Chicago. You may want to make arrangements with a friend or family member in the US to recieve your replacement unit and send it to you to avoid any confusion about your warranty status.

I need help please before I rip my hair out. I have a RCA Lyra RD 1028A. I have had it for a year or so. I recently purchased a 1GB SanDisc SD memory card for it. For some reason I can not up load songs onto the memory card when it is plugged into the Lyra, but I can up load songs to the card when it is plugged into my card reader.  Unfortunately when I plug the card into the MP3 it doesn't show any of the tracks on the memory card. Any help with this problem would be greatly apreciated, because I have contacted RCA's tech support with no response.
