Bad Economy Hitting HDTV Sales?
Yah, I think the DTV transition should keep HDTV sales moving along. Though perhaps at a slower pace. The government isn’t doing the shut off though, they’ve mandated that broadcasters stop broadcasting over-the-air on those frequencies (which they’ve licensed). Given the early NC experiment, I assume outreach will pick up closer to the holidays through Feb which will confuse cable subscribers into buying new TVs they don’t need.

Real Launches DVD Copying, Files Suit
Guess their marketing push of being part of the DVD Copy Control Association as a sign of legitimacy was BS misdirection, since they’re now filing suit against them. Does anyone even care about this software package, anyway? I tend to agree with you - it’s a move designed to attract attention.

The new Macs have landed
The new MacBook looks pretty hot. But given the economic conditions heading into the holidays, Apple needed to come in with lower prices. The 24″ LCD is interesting since it’s essentially a docking station - something Apple hasn’t offered in this decade. Wish they’d also offer a 21″ model for a couple hundred less. And I wonder if they’ll provide some sort of miniport->DVI adapter. I still think the MSI Wind is the small OS X laptop for me… if only they didn’t colorize the ports on the side - it drives me batty.

Redfly drops to under $200, but only until Halloween
I was pretty harsh on the RedFly as well. Saw it in action at CTIA last spring. At this lower price point, it becomes a much more interesting product - as a budget netbook (replacement). I’m wondering how usable it is powering a remote desktop (LogMeIn, etc) and how the browsing experience is via PocketIE or Opera. If they work well, either of those would make it a reasonable alternative for me. Still waiting to hear back from Celio if my Blackjack 2 6.1 WinMo build is supported.
