Watching TV in My Bed without a TV!
Categories: Audio / Video Streaming Phones, Smartphones, and PDAs
I was sitting around this evening in my bedroom doing some work on my laptop and watching the Cubs/Brewers game (don't ask) at the same time. Funny thing was that the TV wasn't turned on. How could I do this, you ask? With a relatively new gadget called the Slingbox. There's a Slingbox Review right here on TechLore that talks all about this device that allows you to broadcast your TV signal anywhere in the world and watch it on a computer with an Internet connection. There's also an audio Slingbox Podcast that explains in more detail what the Slingbox can do in an interview with Jeremy Toeman of Sling Media.
An interesting feature of this device is that since I have wifi in my house, I can watch my TV on my laptop anywhere around my house - even outside in my backyard.
You can pick up the Slingbox at any electronics store or on the Internet. I've seen it for $150 and best of all there are no subscription fees. If you happen to have a phone that supports Windows Mobile, you can even watch your TV on your phone! I have yet to get a Windows Mobile phone, but when I dish out the money, I'm sure I'll love it. Need to get it in time for NFL football to use when I'm at the game!

My blog will take a practical approach to helping you with some day-to-day ideas on how to get more out of your consumer electronic devices. As I encounter questions and comments from people I meet and help, I will document them here and hopefully they will be of help to other people with similar issues. Enjoy and if you have something that you'd like me to write about, please send me a private message.
