Television Update
Bought it. They delivered it in less than 24 hours. I tore my entertainment center limb-from-limb in preparation for its arrival. And now it's set up ... mostly ... and I love it! Played Dungeon Seige on my media center for hours tonight -- with the world's biggest monitor! Okay, so, with a big monitor for me.
Status...
- Video direct to TV, no switching through receiver.
- DirecTV -> Dual-tuner TiVo -> TV (over s-video)
- TiVo -> VCR -> TV (over coax) -- gotta do this to support the "Save to VCR" function on my DirecTV-screwed-me-by-boycotting-series2-so-I'm-stuck-in-the-world-of-VHS TiVo
- DVD -> TV (over component)
- DirecTV -> Extra Receiver -> Media Center -> TV (over s-video). Need a nice long monitor cable to try VGA to see if that cleans up the picture a little for fonts, etc when actually using it as a monitor
Lots more to blab about I'm sure, but that's the current status. For some reason, I can't get a signal over one of my s-video line (connected to the TiVo). That, plus wiring in the modulators for whole-house-distribution and upgrading my Media Center O/S, is all that stands in the way of fully enjoying my new friend. Will post pictures later when I'm not so tired.
