Hi,
What Sony says is all junk. Here are a few questions for you to ponder upon.
1. Was it working before? If it was, then most probably your disk is already junk.
2. If not, and it's your first time doing this, then Sony FAILED to mention that you need to FORMAT the disc first before you can do anything. If you did not format it, you can still record and view on the camcorder but you CANNOT CANNOT CANNOT finalize it, whether via USB, Ulead, or whatever software you can think of.
Can't Finalize Disc in Sony DVD Camcorder
A TechLore "Ask the Experts" Question...
Question:
I have a Sony DVD-300 camcorder. The disc (DVD-R) was removed before it was finalized. Is there a way to save this disc or is it junk? I tried to finalize it, but I get a "not ready" message.-submitted by pinkydog
Answer:
According to Sony, you should be able to finalize a DVD-R disc at any time, even if it was removed and reinserted into the player. Sony recommends that you have the camcorder connected to an AC outlet when finalizing discs. It is also notable that the finalization procedure varies depending whether or not the disc contains static images taken with the camcorders photo mode.Sony has provided the following procedure to follow for finalizing DVD-R discs:
- Connect the AC adapter to the digital video camera.
- Plug the AC adapter into a working wall outlet.
- Turn on the digital video camera.
- Press the SETUP button.
- Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW button to select DISC SET.
- Press the ENTER button.
- Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW button to select FINALIZE.
- Press the ENTER button.
- If still images are recorded on the disc, press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW button to select PHOTOMOVIE CREATE.
- Press the ENTER button.
- Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW button to select EXECUTE.
- Press the ENTER button.
- Press the UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW button to select YES.
- Press the ENTER button.
- When the finalizing completion message appears, press the SETUP button.
