Cameras and Camcorders
Last year, I purchased a new 5 Megapixel digital camera to replace my old Kodak 1 Megapixel model which I got a lot of use out of, but it was clearly past the time to replace. The question was what to do with the old camera. I hate to throw away electronics and have them sit in a landfill somewhere, especially if it still works.
Then a thought hit me. My 6 year-old son was always bugging me about taking pictures, so why not give it to him as his own personal camera? I did and boy, was he excited.
Over the weeks that followed,
he took hundreds of pictures. I helped him download them to the computer so that he could look at them. He was so excited to look at pictures of his Pokeman cards and pictures of the TV which was showing his favorite cartoon. This was no surprise. However, I was surprised to find some really good pictures too that he had taken without my knowledge. There were some hilarious self-portraits and some great pictures of my younger son too. Some were so good that I put them in a frame for display in my house. In retrospect, I actually wish I had given him free reign with a camera a little bit earlier than I did!
