A TechLore "Ask the Experts" Question...
Question:Hi, I purchased the DFP70/DFP72 MP3 player AVC Technology and need help transferring files. The manual says that once I plug in the USB that the "removable disk" should load and a folder should than open. I do not see the folder...all I see in "My computer" is the removable disk E. I tried to contact them thru email but no-one is answering...please help.

Answer:Based on the information you have submitted, everything looks A-OK. However, it looks like you've been hit by the "poorly written manual" syndrome.
The manual states that the folder should automatically open when the device is connected to the computer, which is not true. Whether or not Windows will automatically open the drive in Explorer depends on how your preferences have been setup prior to connecting the device.
You see "Removable Disk E:" in "My Computer", which means that Windows has properly recognized it as a storage device (a device that holds data), and assigned it a drive letter, which will vary depending on how many different drives are in the computer. Windows treats these devices as generic storage devices, simply because all they do with the computer is move data back and forth, like a floppy drive or USB thumb drive.
If you double-click on "Removable Disk E:" Windows will open that storage device. Within it, you can move music into it like you would transfer files from one hard drive to another (like dragging files to it or copying and pasting).
